Jeff and Lydia Barber named 2021 Brescia University Parents of the Year

The Brescia University Student Government Association has selected Jeff and Lydia Barber as Parents of the Year. This is the inaugural year of the award to highlight those people that have gone the extra mile to support the students and the university. The first-year award went to the Barber Family of Daphne, Alabama. They have been a part of the Brescia Family since 2019. Their son, Jackson Barber, is a member of the Brescia Men’s Soccer Team, and he will graduate in December with a degree in Psychology.

Jeff and Lydia have gone above and beyond to support the university and its mission, in making an impact on the lives of those around them in a positive way. The Barbers’ were nominated by Jackson Barber and Head Coach Cameron Williams in a joint effort.

Jackson said “Both of my parents do an amazing job, not only supporting me, but also my friends, roommates, and the soccer program. It is for these reasons and so much more that I believe they deserve the award for Brescia Bearcat Parent of the Year.”

Coach Williams said “They are genuine and kindhearted people that give, and expect nothing in return. They have been great advocates of the program and institution since they became a part of the Brescia Family.”

The Parent of the Year Award seeks to recognize a parent or caregiver who has made a significant impact and contribution to the life of a Brescia student, students, and/or team/organization. By supporting our students, they are in turn supporting the University.
