Brescia Seeking Applicants for High School Youth Theology Institute Initiative

In Fall 2015, Brescia University received a grant of $462,227 to establish “Living and Leading with Love,” or L3, a high school youth theology institutes initiative funded by the Lilly Endowment. The key objective of L3 will be to provide Catholic leadership training, in an age-appropriate way, to interested high school students using this same “theology of charity” with the specific goals of helping young people to: discover Jesus’ call to love; explore the meaning of that love; and identify practical ways of putting that love into action.

The program will provide high school sophomores with a combination of theological reflection, online learning experiences, service opportunities, and social functions for the duration of one academic year. The culmination will be a 10-day, intensive on-ground experience at Brescia University.

Brescia is currently seeking applicants for the program. Students who will be sophomores during the 2016-2017 academic year are eligible.  Students should have a strong interest in religion and theology; desire to develop leadership skills; and an aspiration to learn more about themselves through reflection, projects, and service to their local communities. Only 15 students will be accepted into the program.

Those interested in applying should complete the online application, which can be found at www.brescia.edu/L3_application. Students will also be required to submit one recommendation letter from a church official, religious educator/teacher, or school counselor. Applications are due June 30. The L3 Steering Committee will review applications in early July, and applicants will be notified of decisions no later than July 15.
