Brescia University has been named a 2015-2016 College of Distinction, an honor that recognizes the best place for students to learn, grow and succeed. In addition, Brescia University is also the only school in Kentucky to be recognized as a Catholic College of Distinction.
Colleges of Distinction is a college guide with a unique approach that seeks to provide students, counselors and parents with information about schools that excel in these key areas. The accolade describes schools that take a holistic approach to admissions decisions that consistently excel in providing undergraduate education and have a truly national reputation.

This is the second year in a row that Brescia has been included in this prestigious membership. The selection process reviews factors such as the school’s first year experience, general education program, experimental components of the curriculum, the strategic plan and alumni success and satisfaction.
“We focus on colleges that are deeply dedicated to students’ learning,” said Tyson Schritter, executive editor of Colleges of Distinction. “Schools designated as ‘Colleges of Distinction’ offer innovative learning experiences that educate, nurture and transform students.
The Selection and Nominating Committee, made up on former college presidents, university CEOs, provosts and professors, pay close attention to cost, diversity of programs, default and retentions rates and whether a school serves its students well while adhering to it mission.
Student comments found online among social media sites and other mediums are also taken into consideration.
High school college counselors and educators nominate colleges and universities for recognition by Colleges of Distinction, which then evaluates each school based on qualitative and quantitative research. The colleges and universities are not ranked and instead are members of a consortium of other equally impressive schools.
