Comprehensive Immigration Reform Panel

Brescia University’s Spanish Program is hosting a comprehensive immigration reform panel on Tuesday, August 27 from 6-7:30 pm in Taylor Lecture Hall (Science Bldg.).

This event is open to all Brescia students, staff, and faculty, as well as the entire greater Owensboro community.

The panelists will be Susan Gesser-Montalvo, Owensboro Immigration Lawyer; Cristóbal Gutiérrez, Director of Hispanic Ministry; Patti Gutiérrez, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Michael’s Church in Sebree, KY; and Anna Kuthy, Brescia University Political Science professor.

Each panelist will share their perspectives on the need for comprehensive immigration reform based in their work with Hispanic/Latina/o migrants and personal experiences as migrants to the United States. They will also offer their views on the recent bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform SB 744 introduced in the Senate in June, and which will be debated in the House of Representatives in September. Bilingual Spanish-English interactions and translations will be adjusted as needed by Brescia Spanish majors and volunteers.
