Brescia’s IECE Degree Approved for KIDS Now Scholarship

Brescia University has just learned the Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority have approved Brescia’s Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) degree for the KIDS (Kentucky Invests in Developing Success) Now Scholarship. This scholarship is available to anyone currently working with young children in a licensed childcare center, private preschool, family certified home, or public preschool as an aide or assistant. The amount available per student per year is $1,800. This scholarship may be combined in addition to any other financial aid, grants, or scholarships.

Jennifer Brey, adjunct education instructor at Brescia University, said, “It is such wonderful news that Brescia University has been added to the list of colleges and universities in Kentucky that are eligible for the scholarship for their students.” Jennifer and Sr. Sharon Sullivan, OSU, former Chair of the School of Education and former Academic Dean at Brescia, wrote the IECE program, which has been approved by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.

The program combines elements of general education, special education, psychology, social work, and speech pathology. Classes this fall will be offered in traditional and late afternoon/early evening formats to accommodate all interested applicants.
