Psy 348: Mental Health and Sports Performance

This course explores the intricate relationships between mental health and athletic performance. This will include analyzing factors of motivation, confidence, stress management, emotional regulation, resilience, and other psychological skills necessary for optimal athletic achievement. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the overlap between athlete mental health and performance through weekly discussion-focused meetings and assigned readings/activities. By the end of this course, students will be more equipped with knowledge and skills related to supporting mental health related to sports performance, signs and signals of psychological distress, and an understanding of how mental health impacts athletic performance.
