PA 635: Fundamentals of Emergency Medicine

This course prepares students to effectively manage trauma and medical emergencies commonly encountered in the emergency department. The curriculum will emphasize the prioritization of stabilizing patients with life-threatening conditions, as well as the selection and implementation of appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Students will develop the clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to rapidly assess, triage, and provide comprehensive care for patients presenting with acute, time-sensitive illnesses or injuries. In anticipation of clinical rotations, students will become Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified during the course. By equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and certified training required to excel in emergency medicine, this course will be instrumental in cultivating their readiness to provide high-quality, life-saving care to patients in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
