Brescia Reveals Renderings for Capital Campaign Additions

Brescia University will give the community a glimpse into the future by revealing the architectural renderings for building projects to be funded by “The Campaign for Brescia University: Gateway to Our Second Century” when the University sponsors the monthly Rooster Booster breakfast with the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, September 3rd at the Owensboro Convention Center.  The images were approved by the Board of Trustees this summer and feature the expansion and renovation of the Campus Center and the new construction of a signature academic building on the corner of Ninth and Frederica Streets.

ccThe $10 million Capital Campaign kicked off in October of 2014. To date, Brescia University has secured $8.6 Million in gifts and pledges, including five $1 million gifts.

In 2008, recognizing that the needs of  21st century students were evolving, the landscape of higher education was growing more competitive, and  the physical campus had remained largely unchanged for over 25 years, University leaders, faculty, staff, and students came together to develop a 30-year Master Plan for the University.  The projects involved in “The Campaign for Brescia University: Gateway to Our Second Century” represent phase I of the implementation of that 30-year plan.

“This first phase of our master plan will help set the tone for future campus improvements. As with all things that we do, our focus is on the needs of the student.  We have a responsibility of making sure that the educational experience is as effective as possible in helping our students achieve their personal and professional goals. A sense of place that is modern, safe, and technologically relevant, as well as a second home, is an important part of attaining those goals. With the renovation of our Campus Center and the construction of a new signature academic building we are taking a significant step towards the fulfillment of our master plan,” stated Father Larry Hostetter, President.

The current Campus Center will undergo a complete redesign that will feature an open concept living and dining area, new admissions offices,  a new Spirit Shop to greet visitors, as well as a new health and wellness center that will give students, staff and faculty access to on-campus exercise facilities.

The gymnasium will be expanded, nearly doubled, to accommodate up to 1,000 fans and the ability to divide the primary playing court into 2 full practice courts. The addition of four new team locker rooms and office space for athletic coaches will also be included in the design.

SBThe newly constructed building on the corner of Ninth and Frederica Streets will serve as a landmark entrance into downtown Owensboro. This building will feature an innovative digital learning studio, an auditorium that will be available for community use, state-of-the-art classrooms and computer laboratories, and will house the School of Business, the School of the Education and the School of Social Work. Innovation and technology will be hallmarks of this new state-of-the-art facility.

Expansion and renovation of the Campus Center will begin in the spring of 2016 with a projected 8 month completion timeline.  The construction of the new Signature Building will soon follow.

EOA Architects, located in Nashville, TN, was selected by the University’s Building and Design Committee to lead the two projects.

The university is currently hosting campus tours and information meetings pertaining to the capital campaign and community members are invited to attend. For more information, contact Sydney Warren, Director of Major Gifts at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> or 270.686.6417.
