Brescia Athletes to Compete at the National Level

Brescia University athletics will be represented in a host of national competitions taking place this summer by student athletes who have qualified for that level of competition during their regular season play. Students will be competing in both golf and track tournaments.

Senior Olivia Warren, from Paducah, Kentucky, has qualified for the outdoor track and field championships in the Marathon. This is Warren’s 4th trip to the National Championships, as she is also a 3-time qualifier in cross country as well.

Warren is the first female individual to ever qualify in any track event for the university and is the only individual to ever win three consecutive titles in the same event. She currently holds 5 school records and is a 4 time conference champion.

Warren is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Warren and graduated from Brescia on Saturday with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies: Education and Psychology.

The Women’s golf team is currently in Savannah, Georgia competing in the 2015 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships after winning the KIAC Conference Tournament. The four-round tournament is being held at the Savannah Quarters Country Club and will conclude on May 15th.

Abbey Zehner, sophomore from Henderson, Kentucky, majoring in Health Sciences and is the daughter of David and Cheryl Zehner.

Andrea Flood, freshman from Hardinsburg, Kentucky, undeclared major and is the daughter of Timothy and Dana Flood.

Courtney Lucas, senior from Hardinsburg, Kentucky, majoring in Integrated Studies and is the daughter of Jesse and Martena Lucas.

Julie Whitfill, junior from Hardinsburg, Kentucky, majoring in Biology and is the daughter of John and Brenda Whitfield.

Kelsey Kirkpatrick, freshman from Tompkinsville, Kentucky, majoring in Speech Pathology/Audiology and is the daughter of Steve and Jane Kirkpatrick.

Nickole Durbin, freshman from Mascoutah, Illinois, majoring in Political Science and is the daughter of Robert and Jeannette Durbin.

Nicole Burks, sophomore from Paducah, Kentucky, majoring in Speech Pathology/Audiology and is the daughter of Phillip and Patricia Burks.

Rose Ripa, senior from Madisonville, Kentucky, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and is the daughter of David and Tammy Ripa.

Sarah Ackerman, junior from Thorntown, Indiana, double-majoring in Social Work and Spanish and is the daughter of Gordy and Donna McGhee.

Taylor Holley, junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana, majoring in Speech Pathology/Audiology and is the daughter of Chris and Marsetta Holley.

Will McKenzie is also representing Brescia Golf, competing as an individual in the 2015 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship that will take place next week, May 19-22 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

McKenzie took home first place in the 2015 KIAC Men’s Conference Golf Tournament where he shot 74, 73, 72 in the three day tournament, winning the title by four strokes. McKenzie is a senior who will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. McKenzie is the son of Terry McKenzie and Candy Hardiman from Russellville, Kentucky.
