Students seeking certification must successfully complete the Praxis II Specialty Test(s) in their area(s) of certification. Upon successful completion of the School of Education Program and obtaining passing scores on the Praxis II, the Brescia University graduate is eligible to be recommended for a Kentucky Statement of Eligibility for Teacher Certification. The graduate must also file a Certification Application (CA-1) in the Office of the Registrar. All certifications are granted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board. The CA-1 application is available on the EPSB website: www.epsb.ky.gov
Upon obtaining full-time employment as an initially certified teacher, the Brescia graduate may complete the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP). Once KTIP is complete, submission of a copy of the Final Report of KTIP and an updated CA-1 to the Registrar (Brescia University’s Certification Officer) starts the recommendation process for professional certification.
