Brescia Included in U.S. News & World Report 2017 Best Colleges

Brescia University has been named to the U.S. News & World Report “Best Regional Colleges in the South” list released today. The list seeks to help domestic and international students compare the academic quality of U.S.-based schools.

The U.S. News rankings focus on academic excellence, with schools ranked on up to 16 measures of academic quality. The rankings emphasize outcomes, with graduation and retention rates carrying the most weight in the methodology at 30 percent.

“I encourage parents and students to use the wealth of data and information in Best Colleges to identify schools that suit their specific needs,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News. “In addition to considering factors like location and cost, families should pay close attention to graduation and retention rates. These are important indicators of how well a school supports its students both academically and financially. Getting into a good school means nothing if you cannot graduate.”

Other measures used in the calculation is undergraduate academic reputation, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving rate.

“We are honored to once again be included in a list of such prestigious schools in our regional area,” stated Father Larry Hostetter. “It is the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff that have allowed us to continue to excel over the years, and that has led us to where we are today – the brink of our future. It is our hope that through our capital campaign, we can continue to meet the needs of our growing student body, as well as those who will call Brescia home in the future.”

This accolade follows a successful year for Brescia University and joins two other honors the University has received thus far in the 2016-2017 schools year; 5th Fastest Growing Catholic College in the Nation among Baccalaureate institutions by the Chronicle of Higher Education and a Best College in the Southeast by the Princeton Review.
