Mathematics and Natural Sciences Minors

Biology

The minor in Biology offers students a solid foundation in several broad areas of biology: ecology and evolution, molecular and cellular biology, human anatomy and physiology, biological diversity, and genetics. Classroom learning includes lectures, team projects, and other active learning activities; all courses include separate labs where students engage in hands-on experiments and active learning.

Chemistry

A Chemistry minor introduces students to the foundational principles of chemistry; it also provides knowledge in the areas of quantitative analysis and organic chemistry. Classroom learning includes lectures, team projects, and other active learning activities; all courses include separate labs where students engage in hands-on experiments and active learning.

Total Requirements: 24 credit hours

Computer Science

The Computer Science minor is designed to provide basic proficiency in computer science; it only introduces the primary elements of the discipline: Programming, data structures and algorithms, and computer ethics. Required electives allow students to pursue personal interests in the field.

Mathematics

A minor in Mathematics provides students with a strong foundation in some of the core sub-disciplines within the field: calculus, algebra, geometry, and statistics.

Physics

The objective of the physics program is to provide the related-science major and the non-science major an introduction to physical science. A minor in physics allows interested students to move beyond the principles of general physics and explore other dimensions of modern physics such as electricity and/or magnetism, analytical mechanics, and thermodynamics.
