Master of Social Work Program

Thank you for your interest in our MSW program! You can apply online now. The deadline to apply for the 2018 cohort is February 15, 2018.

Brescia University offers a one year advanced standing Master of Social Work Program for students who have completed a CSWE accredited Bachelor of Social Work program in the last five years. The next advanced standing one year MSW cohort will begin in August of 2018. Brescia University also offers a two year full Master of Social Work Program for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a field other than social work. The next full MSW cohort will begin in August of 2018.

Advanced Generalist social workers are able to do therapy, address complex problems, use evidence-based practice interventions, engage in scientific inquiry, and take leadership roles within their work environments and on behalf of the profession.

What You Should Know about Us:

  • All MSW classes are online and fifteen weeks long. There is no need to travel to Owensboro. (We would love to have you here for graduation, though!).
  • Weekly, evening, synchronous chats are required for all courses, so you will have virtual, real-time, face-to-face contact with all your professors.
  • The full MSW program is 60 credits, completed in less than 2 years.
  • Advanced Standing is 30 credits, complete in 9 months.
  • We are in Candidacy status with the Council on Social Work Education.
  • No GRE is required
  • Tuition for the 2018 MSW cohort is $600 per credit hour.
  • Brescia University will reimburse MSW graduates for their ASWB social work licensing examination fee, up to $230, if they pass within 60 days of graduating.
  • Financial Aid is available for the MSW program, please complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA at and add Brescia University’s school code 001958.

Admission requirements:

  • Completion of an online application. There is no cost to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of Introduction to Social Work with a minimum grade of C
  • Completion of a Statistics course, with minimum grade of C within the last 3 years
  • GPA of 3.0 for last 60 hours earned, for full program; GPA of 3.2 for last 60 hours earned Advanced Standing.
  • Typed personal statement (3-4 pages).
