State Financial Aid Programs

Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has several financial aid programs that are administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA). KHEAA was established by an act of the General Assembly in 1966 to enhance higher education opportunities for Kentucky students.

If you are a non-Kentucky resident, contact the administrator of state financial aid grants in your state to inquire about whether funds can be used at Brescia University. Brescia University will accept any available funds from out of state. Please forward any instructions for requesting state funds to the Brescia University Financial Aid Office.

College Access Program

The College Access Program (CAP) helps Kentucky’s financially needy undergraduate students attend Brescia University. CAP Grants are awarded to Kentucky residents enrolled for at least six credit hours (half time) per semester in academic programs that take at least two years to complete.

Amount

The 2023-2024 CAP maximum award is up to $5,300 for a four-year institution.

Eligibility

Must be a Kentucky resident, have financial need, attend an eligible college, have no past due financial obligations to KHEAA or to any Title IV program, and be enrolled at least half-time in a program that is at least two years in length. Kentucky Tuition Grant

The Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) Program provides need-based grants to qualified Kentucky residents to attend the Commonwealth’s independent colleges like Brescia University.

Amount

The maximum KTG award is $3,300 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Eligibility

Must be a Kentucky resident, have financial need, attend an eligible college, have no past due financial obligations to KHEAA or to any Title IV program, and be enrolled at least half-time in a program that is at least two years in length. Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship

The Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program provides scholarships to Kentucky students who earn at least a 2.5 GPA each year they attend a certified Kentucky high school. Students may also earn awards for ACT/SAT scores and Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) or Cambridge Advanced International (CAI) test scores. Home school and GED graduates may earn awards based on their ACT scores.

KHEAA Teacher Scholarship Program

The Teacher Scholarship Program provides financial aid to Kentucky students pursuing teacher certification at participating Kentucky colleges.

Amount

The Teacher Scholarship award goes up to $2,500 per semester.

Eligibility

All applicants must be Kentucky residents enrolled full-time (unless enrolled for the final term of a teacher certification program and less than full-time enrollment is required to complete the program). Applicants must demonstrate financial need to qualify for a KHEAA Teacher Scholarship.
