In 1925, the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph established the first institution of higher education in Daviess County: the Mount Saint Joseph Junior College for Women. Guided by the teachings of Saint Angela Merici to “read the signs of the times and adapt,” the Ursuline Sisters recognized the opportunity to serve men and women returning to civilian life following World War II, so they moved their classes to downtown Owensboro in 1950 and founded Brescia College.

Serving veterans is an integral part of our history at Brescia University, and we are proud to have many veterans among our alumni.
