Brescia’s SSS provides our students with:
You will be assigned to a contact person who will meet with you at least three times each semester. This person will answer your questions, follow your academic progress, make suggestions about adjustment to college life, recommend workshops, and keep you abreast of cultural and other opportunities available to you.
You can receive one to two hours of tutoring a week for any course taught at Brescia University. Your contact person will also work with you in selecting courses for each semester.
You will have the opportunity to work with the career services director in Student Support Services. This person will guide you in choosing a major if you have not already done so and in exploring career options within that major. Preparation of resumes, job interviews, and/or graduate school is also available.
You will have the opportunity to take part in a number of free workshops sponsored by SSS. In the past, SSS has arranged for workshops on time and stress management, motivation, planning your degree, resumes and cover letters, note-taking and test-taking skills, study skills, and the job market, CPR and First Aid, among others.
You will have the opportunity to attend various cultural activities free of charge. Student Support Services provides vouchers for the Owensboro RiverPark Broadway Series, the Owensboro Symphony, and the Theatre Workshop of Owensboro. SSS participants have attended performances of Peter Pan, Grease, Rent, Cabaret, Man of La Mancha, Les Miserables, Riverdance, Jekyll and Hyde, Cats, to name a few.
You will be able to discuss your financial aid options with the SSS Director, who will answer questions and explain the various forms needed. You also may be eligible for a tuition grant available through Student Support Services.
Through the Brescia University Fr. Leonard Alvey Library, you will be able to check out laptops, camcorders, digital cameras, flash drives, and mp3 players. You are responsible for the technology while it is in your possession.
