Brescia University Commemorates Constitution Day

Brescia University commemorates Constitution Day on Friday, September 17 by hosting attorneys Charlie Kamuf, Sr. and Charlie Moore. Kamuf and Moore will offer a presentation open to the public at 1 pm in the Board Room/Art Gallery on the Bill of Rights and 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment grants citizenship to anyone born in the United States, and is a timely topic as debate by legislators and political commentators is underway concerning changing the amendment to deny or revoke the citizenship of people born in this country to undocumented parents.

The 14th Amendment states, section 1:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privilege or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
