Czech Republic Lecture

Daniela RuzickovaDaniela Ruzickova, visiting professor and Director of International Field Placement from the Caritas College of Social Work in Olomouc, Czech Republic, will present Social and Political Issues in the Czech Republic Since the Fall of Communism on Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00pm in the Taylor Lecture Hall on the campus of Brescia University. The lecture is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Owensboro Area World Affairs Council, Brescia University, and Owensboro Community and Technical College.

Caritas College of Social Work is located in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Olomouc is one of Owensboro’s Sister Cities. Brescia University and other area schools have signed an agreement with Caritas to foster faculty and student relationships in Social Work to provide for an international experience.

Daniela Ružičková is professor of Social Work at Caritas College of Social Work, in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Having been born under the Communist regime, she has witnessed great changes in her country following the Velvet Revolution as a social work professional responsible for placing students in helping agencies in over 40 countries. She has an interest in European social work and social policy, and has studied in several countries in both Western and Central Europe. She also has experience working with mi-grant populations. Daniela received her master’s degree in Social Policy and Social work from Masaryk University in Brno, CZ, in 2009. In addition, she attended Luiss Guido Carli – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali, in Rome, Italy.
