Math and Natural Science

Programs offered in the Brescia Division of Mathematics and Natural Science prepare students for a wide variety of careers. The goal of the Division is to provide students with a strong knowledge base in their majors, as well as many opportunities to develop problem-solving, technological, communication, and leadership skills.

Most Division programs are housed in a well-equipped Science Building providing science and computer labs, a greenhouse, animal room, darkrooms, observatory, and space for independent student research projects.

Division faculty have a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all are committed to excellence in undergraduate instruction in the liberal arts environment. Placing a high value on student needs, they work together to offer quality programs with integrated curricula and conveniently scheduled classes. In addition to a personal faculty advisor for each student, small class sizes assure a high degree of interaction with all faculty, who encourage them to seek career-related experiences and to do specialized research projects.

In the Division of Math and Natural Sciences education is based on a spirit of cooperation, friendship, and mutual respect. This spirit promotes relationships which continue long after graduation. Graduates of this Division enjoy an excellent acceptance rate into graduate and professional schools and are well-represented in health, education, business, computer, engineering, and environmental careers. Graduates work for major corporations or in private practice, in chemical or bio-industrial labs, in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, community clinics, and a variety of other settings. Brescia Science, Math, Computer Science, and SP/A graduates leave the University with a strong commitment to service, often assuming leadership roles in their communities and professions.
